Roots and Resilience: A Nobel Legacy is a fundraising celebration commemorating the 15th anniversary of Leymah Gbowee receiving the Nobel Peace Prize and honoring the remarkable impact she has achieved through leadership, courage, and an unwavering commitment to peace and social justice.
This milestone event serves as both a celebration of an extraordinary legacy and a call to action for the future. Over the past fifteen years, GPFA-USA has invested in the education, leadership development, and empowerment of women and youth, helping to create pathways for opportunity and positive change in Liberia and beyond. The progress achieved has been made possible through a community of supporters who believe in the power of grassroots leadership and the potential of the next generation.
Funds raised through Roots and Resilience will directly support GPFA-USA's programs that equip young people, especially girls and emerging leaders, with the tools, education, mentorship, and opportunities needed to become agents of change in their communities. 2002 - Mass Action for Peace
Gbowee organized thousands of Christian and Muslim women in nonviolent protest—daily sit-ins, demonstrations, and an historic stand at peace talks—compelling all sides to come to the table.
2011 - Nobel Peace Prize
