Leymah Gbowee Joins Global Citizen’s “No Child on the Sidelines” Campaign

The Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa-USA is proud to announce our support of Global Citizen’s “No Child on the Sidelines” Campaign! Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee will be joining fellow changemakers and leaders to support a greater global investment in children’s education. Leymah Gnowee has also joined changemakers as a signatory to support the campaign.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Global Citizen and FIFA have partnered to raise a goal of $100 million through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Foundation. This campaign will help support equal access to quality education, sports-based learning, and activities for youth. The “No Child on the Sidelines” campaign has already raised $50 million, and is actively calling on global leaders, businesses, and governments to help reach their goal. The Canadian government has also contributed greatly to the campaign through a Canadian-based international organization called Right to Play. Canada’s contribution has helped further drive the campaign closer to the projected goal of $100 million.

Equal access to quality education is at the forefront of Leymah Gbowee’s work and the Gbowee Foundation’s mission. Through this collaboration, the Gbowee Foundation is proud to support Global Citizen and the FIFA Global Citizen Education Foundation in advocating for equal opportunities in education for every child across the globe.

Through this partnership, Leymah Gbowee and the Gbowee Foundation will help to ensure that no child is left on the sidelines.
